I started my personal development journey in 2018. It started with a Facebook ad that I clicked on for Ruth Soukoup. She got me started and I couldn't stop. I wanted to learn more and more about how to become the best version of me. I didn't want to become like someone else. I wanted to be ME! Only a better, more motivated, confident person.
Who am I? I am happily married to an amazing man since 2004. We have 2 boys. I LOVE being a boymom. God definitely knew what he was doing when he gave me boys instead of girls. I am a Christian. I strive to put God first in my life. I love health and wellness. I work full time as a program manager for a connector company. I enjoy working out and the energy that it gives me. I enjoy being outside and creating family adventures with hiking and day trips.
A little background about myself. I started gaining weight my junior/senior year of high school by just having really bad eating habits. I worked 20-30 hours at a pizza place (which I basically ate unhealthy foods every night I worked) while going to school and doing after school activities. My saving grace was that I was a runner. I would run 5-8 miles and eat a pizza. This carried into my college years. My old college roommates would always make fun of me when I would run for an hour and get back to the apartment and eat a whole Jack's pizza myself.
I was never extremely overweight. Just enough to have a muffin top and be self conscious about my mid section. I would have people ask when I was due (when I wasn't pregnant). This habit of working out and then eating whatever I wanted "because I worked out" stayed with me for years. I tried so many "diets" through weight watchers, myFitnessPal, etc... I would lose weight, but then after a couple weeks would fall off the wagon. Sound familiar?
I have been doing online workouts since May 2020. Working out and staying motivated to work out was never my issue. I LOVE my online workouts where I don't have to drive anywhere and can do them first thing in the morning. Workouts are one thing, but what you really need is nutrition. You have to have the mindset for both to reach the results you want. Through my personal development, I had changed my mindset that it was NOT another diet plan. It was a lifestyle change. I changed the way I looked at eating. It wasn't the fact that I couldn't eat this or that. It was that I GET to eat this because I know it will fuel my body and get me the results I am looking for. I feel so much better inside and out. I could talk for hours about this.....
What I want to share with you on this blog is what I have learned through my personal development journey. Not only through my fitness journey, but through my overall mindset journey. I want to share the knowledge that I gained through reading personal development books. My plan is to give you highlights of books that I have read and am reading. Plus other helpful tips that will help you with your journey to become the BEST VERSION OF YOU!
